It is indeed time for the world to try and shift the power source of its gadgets from the conventional sources to renewable ones, and if you actually end up changing all your gadgets into ones that run on clean energy, then you would be saving huge chunks of energy. Snippy is a gadget that allows you to let your electronic viewer be powered by the sun. Its simple and efficient design along with its little solar panel makes it a convenient way to stay in touch with all that is happening.

The screen along with its high quality e-ink enables you to use it with ease, and the energy saved by Snippy is equivalent to greenhouse gases of 128 Kg. By reducing the use of paper among those who read it on a regular basis, it allows you to save both water resources and the trees. Since Snippy cannot be plugged in to conventional energy sources, it pretty much eliminates any use of fossil-fuel-powered energy. The energy-saving features of the screen and the simplicity of the photovoltaic array present to charge it up make it perfect for the compact style of modern life.

Designed by Holly Gates, Snippy’s main body contains the e-paper screen, the RoHS compliant electronics package, radio, user interface, µSD card slot and battery. By reducing the use of paper and by taking away the use of conventional power source, Snippy puts an end to the whole argument that e-paper is no better than ordinary paper, as it consumes same amount of power in a different way. Now if only those who do provide the services could also go renewable, it would definitively give e-paper the edge!
