Renault and Nissan Promotes Electric Cars in Portugal

Auto manufacturers Nissan and Renault collaborate with the Portuguese Government for the promotion and development of electric cars and upgrading infrastructure for such vehicles.

Portuguese Government and the Renault Nissan Alliance will carry out a study to determine what is needed to make electric cars more attractive in Portugal. Authorities will consider, too, the conditions for creating a network of loading stations at nationwide. The review will determine also the most effective way of increasing the degree of popularity of electrical cars.

Instead, the alliance has pledged to bring electric cars in Portugal until 2011. Renaul Nissan Alliance announced previously, similar partnerships with the governments of Israel and Denmark, but also with the Better Place Project.

Better Place Project, founded by entrepreneur Shai Agassi, has taken the commitment to make electric cars a viable option worldwide. The company plan is to make a network of stations where owners of electrical cars to can load theirs vehicles. Israel was the first country that signed a partnership with the Better Place Project, this year.
