Americans Have Found a Solution To Cool Computers

Two research projects owned by Purdue University from Indiana, United States may be the solution for significant cooling of new generation of chips, laptops and personal computers with high performance, informs Greener Computing.

In one of these projects which are funded by the Office of Naval Research USA, a university professor from Purdue and two doctoral students have found a way of cooling chips which generates over 1,000 watts heat on a square centimeter. The solution consists in a series of microjets that remove five times more heat than other methods by distributing cooling liquid in the chips tiny channels. This technology could be used for lasers, radars and propulsion systems, according to those at Purdue.

In another development project, university researchers excluded the computers conventional cooling in favor of a method that is similar to a small refrigeration system. Team explore ways of designing mini compressors like those used for conventional refrigeration systems because they to be used in laptops and personal computers.
