The largest company of products consumer from Thailand, Sasha Group, which has over 300 factories and offices throughout the country has announced it’s plan to reduce oil consumption by 1% this year, using solar energy. The company has already used solar cells produced in China for providing electricity in offices from Sahacogen ,central province of Chonburi, said the president Sasha Group, Boonsithi Chokwatana.

The project of 21 kilowatts of solar energy has as result a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 19.1 tons per year and an oil economy of 10,496 litres per year, say company representatives.

“We think to build a manufacturing central of solar cells in Thailand,” said Chokwatana.

Also, Sasha Group are planning to build, together with Japanese company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, a nuclear power plant for Thailand. The two companies will host a semiar about nuclear energy to promote alternative energies, which remain a controversial option in Thailand.
