Apple wants to cover the entire device with solar cells, not just the screen. Already you can buy an iPod that loading from the sun, but it should hold more in the sun than an iPod charger. It is not too convenient but if solar cells will cover the entire device things will be more simple and will load immediately.

The only likely to be semi-transparent is the thin-film solar. This has not too large efficient. If you want to buy an iPod that should always stay in the sun you can make one but I prefer the old method of loading at least until an iPod is made entirely covered with solar cells.
