Norway Could Be Europe’s Battery !

Norway could become ” Europe’s battery” by developing giant wind farms worth at 44 billion U.S. dollars till 2050, said Aaslaug Haga, Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy. Steinar Bysveen, member of the Energy Council of Norway, has completed a report which says that green reports could help the European Union (EU) to achieving a percentage of 20% of electricity until 2020, from renewable sources such as wind, solar, hydro and wave.

“Norway could be Europe’s battery” said Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy. “It’s certainly a large potential for wind energy ” Norway has the longest coast line from Europe, operating from the North Sea and up to the Barents Sea.

Hague said that wind farms off the sea, which would not work in the day without wind, could be supplemented by hydroenergetic tanks which can be started and stopped thereby the process will be transformed into a energetic battery.

It looks like Norway has still need laws and nfrastructure for the development of wind energy both on land and in the sea. StatoilHydro representatives have said last week that will invest 80 million U.S. dollars ti build the first floating wind turbine since 2009. The energy produced by such systems will be more expensive than the land.

The report shows that 40 of terrawatti hour of electricity produced by Wind energy could reduce 20 million tons of carbon emissions that cause global warming. Norway releases from 2007 have totalize 55 million tonnes.
