Fenway : World’s First Stadium That Adopt Solar Energy

05.29.08

Fenway Park Stadium, which belongs to famous baseball team Boston Red Sox, was recently equipped with 28 solar panels, thereby reducing the approximately 18 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually informs Environmental Leader.

Solar energy will replace more than a third of the approximately 3.1 million BTU consumed in the process of heating water in Fenway Park. Daily production of thermal energy produced through solar panels will be approximately 1.1 million BTU, 37% of today’s production.

Other green initiatives made for Fenway Park include recycling and using economic bulbs. In July last year, a solar energy system was installed in AT & T Park belonging to the team San Francisco Giants.
